I listen to PZ podcast daily. It's short, sweet and entertaining. It covers a lot in this sphere and he is very current. On a serious note he is not someone I take very seriously though. Some commonsense stuff but that's not his shtick. He does sound confident and researched, so I get that he would convince a lot of people, but he is way to often wrong and bearley knows half of the time what he's talking about. Power of delivery. Maybe he believes it, i dont know, dont think so, but his main goal is, or should be, entertainment and poking you to think about some of this stuff.

Zeihan is just making stuff up. Russia has never complained about Poland in NATO. Russia always maintained their redline was Ukraine and Georgia. Also, what makes him think NATO are great at war. There’s no evidence of that.

Well I mean Afghanistan is sanctioned and blockaded to hell,how exactly is it supposed to function? Iran,North Korea and Russia can handle sanctions and other international punishments because they were already established states with thriving economies and natural resources,Afghanistan has nothing but opium,and the taliban took over the ruins of a broken nation,not much to work with and no real recourse to get what’s needed to rebuild. That was always going to be the problem for Afghans if the taliban retook power and now they’re dealing with it.

While I would disagree on almost every Bartlett position, as a fictional president he was an imperfect yet honorable and intelligent man who truly cared about the nation and his duties. Its a real shame this show gets maligned by people as merely liberal dreaming. But the writing did a good job giving both sides in different takes that were relatable. Martin Sheen has always been one of my favorite actors. I could imagine the series with him only doing short appearances. My all time favorite series. If only our politicians behaved have as responsibly today, just imagine.
